CFD Simulation of Bubbling Process in Nitric Acid Solution in a Bubble Column

Abstract Bubble column is a commonly used multiphase reactor. Owing to the complicated nature of its flow structure, computational fluid dynamics has frequently been as useful instrument for studying mechanics in bubble column. However, most previously studied systems are air-water system, while air-nitric acid solution system rarely reported. In present study, differences size distribution pure water and 1 mol/L nitric were observed through experiments. The was found be smaller than that when liquid phase acid. According actual situation, bubbling process successfully simulated by adjusting coalescence factor model (deviation less 10%). Meanwhile, it simulation axial time-averaged velocity flatter under same gas rate.
